Santuario de Iguaque Hiking Tour
We'll pick you up at 7 am at Carrera 9 in Villa de Leyva and set off towards the Iguaque Flora and Fauna Sanctuary. Once there, we will start a six-hour trekking route.
During the hike, we will traverse moorlands with local fauna such as squirrels, armadillos, rabbits, and bats. We will also encounter oak trees, pine trees, mosses, lichens, orchids, ferns, and mortiños.
We will visit the Iguaque Lagoon, a sacred aquifer for the Muisca Indians, which hosts up to three species of woodpeckers. We will learn about the legend of the goddess Bachué.
Afterward, we will ascend to an altitude of 4000 meters to observe the natural site from above.
Finally, we will board the minibus and return to Villa de Leyva, arriving at the meeting point by 3 pm.
