Overview of the 8-Day Adventure

Day 1: Arrival in Managua

Your adventure begins with your arrival at Managua Airport, where our team will welcome you and escort you to your accommodation. Depending on your arrival time, you may opt to explore the capital of Nicaragua leisurely or relax and prepare for the exciting days ahead.

Day 2: Managua to León

After a delightful breakfast, we'll start our exploration in Managua's historic heart. This guided tour will lead us to significant landmarks, including the Plaza de la Revolución flanked by the Cathedral and the Palacio Nacional. A visit to the viewpoint at Laguna de Tiscapa will offer stunning panoramas of the vibrant city.

We’ll then embark on a scenic 2-hour journey to the colonial city of León. Capping off our travel, a traditional lunch will be served in the enchanting central square. Following this, a walk through León will allow you to admire the city’s architectural beauty, viewing its impressive churches, including the remarkable Catedral de León, and a bustling local market. You'll surely appreciate the city's historic essence!

We’ll conclude our evening at the hotel, ensuring you are well-rested.

Day 3: Adventures in León

After breakfast, this morning is yours to revel in León's charm at your leisure, gearing up for an adventurous afternoon: sandboarding on Cerro Negro Volcano awaits!

Post-lunch, we’ll travel for about an hour to the Cerro Negro Natural Reserve. Here, we'll embark on a 1-hour hike to the summit, where breathtaking vistas await. Equipped with our sandboarding gear, including protective gear and goggles, we’ll experience the thrill of sliding down volcanic slopes at exhilarating speeds of up to 37 mph (60 km/h) for a full 10 minutes. An unforgettable adrenaline experience!

After the excitement, we’ll return to the hotel to freshen up and enjoy dinner.

Day 4: León to Granada

After breakfast, we bid farewell to León and set off towards Granada, our next colonial destination.

Famous for its vibrant streets and pastel colors, a guided tour through Granada awaits. We will visit its charming churches, central plaza, and La Merced Church, where you can ascend the bell tower for a stunning aerial view of the town. Our explorations will also include a visit to the cemetery, former hospital, and train station. The rich history of Granada is sure to captivate you!

For lunch, don’t miss the chance to savor vigorón, a local specialty. Later, after a short rest at the hotel, we will head to Marina Cabaña Amarilla to enjoy a boat tour around Las Isletas, a stunning archipelago teeming with wildlife. We’ll finish this delightful day by watching the sunset from the water before returning to the hotel.

Day 5: Relaxation or Adventure in Granada

This day presents you with three distinct options: indulging in relaxation at the hotel, embarking on a hike in the Mombacho Volcano Cloud Forest, or hiking Masaya Volcano at sunset.

If you opt for the hike in the Mombacho Cloud Forest, we'll depart early and reach the summit via an off-roading vehicle. You'll explore three different trails: El Puma, El Cráter, and El Tigrillo, trekking a total of 5 miles (8 km) through lush greenery!

Should you choose the Masaya Volcano excursion, we’ll set off in the afternoon to hike for 20 minutes to a viewpoint just in time for the breathtaking sunset casting its golden hues over the volcanic landscape.

We will conclude the day with a delightful dinner and a serene evening at your hotel.

Day 6: Granada – San Juan de Oriente – Mirador de Catarina – Granada

After a hearty breakfast, we commence our journey towards San Juan de Oriente, a quaint indigenous village renowned for its pottery. At a local family workshop, you’ll delve into this traditional craft and even attempt to create your own pottery piece!

Next, a brief 15-minute drive will take us to the Mirador de Catarina, where you can soak in spectacular views of Laguna de Apoyo and browse through artisan stalls.

We’ll return to Granada to experience a Nicaraguan cooking class with a local family. Together, we will prepare iconic dishes such as gallo pinto, fried plantains, queso frito, and the traditional beverage, pinol. A culinary treat!

Day 7: Laguna de Apoyo Experience

On the second to last day, we’ll bask in the beauty of the Laguna de Apoyo. Engaging in various water activities like paddle surfing or kayaking will fill our day with fun, followed by a leisurely lunch before heading back to our hotel in Granada.

Day 8: Departure from Managua

As your final day unfolds, we’ll enjoy breakfast before our return journey to Managua. Finally, we will drop you off at the airport, ensuring you have ample time for check-in and a pleasant flight home.
