8-Day Tour of Nicaragua

8-Day Tour Details

Day 1: Managua

Your journey begins in Managua. Upon arrival at Managua Airport, we'll meet you and take you to your hotel. Depending on your flight schedule, you can explore the capital or relax.

Day 2: Managua – León

After breakfast, we'll visit Managua's historic center on a guided tour, including the Plaza de la Revolución, Cathedral, and Palacio Nacional. We'll also visit the Laguna de Tiscapa viewpoint for city views. A 2-hour drive will take us to León, where we'll have traditional lunch and explore its churches, the Catedral de León, and the local market. We'll return to the hotel for rest.

Day 3: León

After breakfast, the morning is free in León. In the afternoon, we'll go sandboarding on Cerro Negro Volcano. Following lunch, a 1-hour hike will lead us to the top, where you can sandboard for 10 minutes at speeds of up to 37 mph. We'll return to the hotel for dinner.

Day 4: León – Granada

We'll travel to Granada after breakfast for a guided tour of its churches, central plaza, and La Merced Church. Lunch will feature vigorón. We will later take a boat tour of Las Isletas, ending the day with a sunset view before returning to the hotel.

Day 5: Granada

You can relax at the hotel or choose one of three activities: hiking in Mombacho Volcano Cloud Forest, or sunset hiking on Masaya Volcano. The Mombacho hike includes three trails over 5 miles. The Masaya Volcano option includes a 20-minute hike to a viewpoint just before sunset. We'll conclude with dinner.

Day 6: Granada – San Juan de Oriente – Mirador de Catarina – Granada

After breakfast, we'll visit San Juan de Oriente for a pottery workshop. Next, we'll head to Mirador de Catarina for views of Laguna de Apoyo. Finally, we'll join a local family for a Nicaraguan cooking class.

Day 7: Granada – Laguna de Apoyo – Granada

We'll spend the day at Laguna de Apoyo, enjoying activities like paddle surfing or kayaking, and then return to the hotel.

Day 8: Laguna de Apoyo – Managua

On the final day, we'll have breakfast before returning to Managua for your flight. Please ensure your flight departs no earlier than 2 pm.

Return Flight

Your return flight should depart no earlier than 2 pm on the final day. It's about an hour to get to the airport from our last stop.
