Day Trip Details
At the indicated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel and head west towards Santo Domingo. After approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes of travel, we'll arrive in the Dominican capital for a guided tour of its key sights.
We will start at the Los Tres Ojos Cave near the freshwater lakes, then view the exterior of the Columbus Lighthouse. Following this, we'll visit the Presidential Palace and its neoclassical architecture before entering the Basilica Cathedral of Santa María la Menor, the oldest cathedral in the Americas.
Next, we’ll walk along Las Damas Street to see the first stone house in the New World and enter the National Pantheon, resting place of notable historic figures. Then, we’ll explore the Plaza de España and visit the Alcázar de Colon. We will also have a stop at a souvenir shop featuring Larimar items, the only mine of this stone in the world.
You’ll have free time for a buffet lunch with local dishes like rice, meat stew, and beans. After lunch, we will walk to the boardwalk for views of the Caribbean Sea before returning to your hotel, completing the tour in approximately 11.5 hours.
Hotel Pickup
The tour includes pickup from hotels in Bavaro, Punta Cana, Cap Cana, Úvero Alto, Bayahibe, Dominicus, La Romana, Juan Dolio, and Boca Chica. Note that pickups are not included in Playa Nueva Romana; if staying there, pickup will be at the Sunix Hacienda gas station, in front of the Bahia Principe La Romana and Bouganville complex, with the return at the main gate.
Temporary Closures
The Alcazar de Colon is closed for remodeling. During this period, we will visit the Museum of the Royal Houses (Museo de las Casas Reales) instead.
