Let yourself be enchanted by the world's first Austro-German colony on our day trip to Pozuzo and Prusia. We'll visit these two towns in Oxapampa and learn about their foundation by European immigrants.

Pozuzo & Prusia Day Trip

At 6 am, we'll meet in Avenida Leopoldo Krausse and depart from Villa Rica to the province of Oxapampa. During the journey, we will enjoy the scenic beauty of the region, including Yanachaga Chemillén National Park and the Rayantambo and Yulitunky waterfalls.

Our first stop will be Pozuzo, founded in 1895 by Austro-German immigrants, making it the first colony of its kind globally. The settlers imparted their traditions and architectural style to the town, featuring wooden and gable-roofed buildings.

Upon arrival, we will tour iconic sites including the Colonists' cemetery and the replica of the Norton, the ship that brought the immigrants to Peru.

Next, we will visit the Schafferer Museum to learn more about Austro-German colonization through items first residents brought from Europe.

We will then head to Prusia, where we will admire Germanic buildings before enjoying a typical lunch featuring a meat dish and a drink.

After lunch, our visit includes the Emperor Wilhelm I Suspension Bridge, an arts and crafts shop, and a craft brewery, where we will have some beer. Cheers!

We will return to Villa Rica, dropping you off at the meeting point between 5 and 6 pm.
