Let yourself be enchanted by the world's first Austro-German colony on our day trip to Pozuzo and Prusia. We'll visit these two towns in Oxapampa and learn about their foundation by European immigrants.
Pozuzo & Prusia Day Trip
At 6 am, we'll meet in Avenida Leopoldo Krausse and depart for the province of Oxapampa. Along the way, we'll enjoy the scenery, including the Yanachaga Chemillén National Park and the Rayantambo and Yulitunky waterfalls.
Our first stop will be in Pozuzo, founded in 1895 by Austro-German immigrants, marking it as the first colony of its kind in the world. We'll tour the town to see its wooden and gable-roofed buildings typical of Central Europe, including the Colonists' cemetery and the replica of the Norton, the ship used by the immigrants.
We'll also visit the Schafferer Museum to learn about the history of Austro-German colonization through objects brought by the first residents.
Next, we head to Prusia, known for its beautiful Germanic buildings. Here, we'll take a break for a typical lunch, which will consist of a meat dish and a drink.
After lunch, we'll visit the Emperor Wilhelm I Suspension Bridge, an arts and crafts shop, and a craft brewery where we'll sample some beer.
Finally, we'll return to Villa Rica, dropping you off at the meeting point between 5 and 6 pm.
