Pozuzo & Prusia Day Trip

  • 12 Stunden

Let yourself be enchanted by the world's first Austro-German colony on our day trip to Pozuzo and Prusia. We'll visit these two towns in Oxapampa and learn how they were founded by European immigrants.

Pozuzo & Prusia Day Trip

At 6 am, we'll meet up in Avenida Leopoldo Krausse and leave Villa Rica to head to the province of Oxapampa. On the way, we'll see scenic highlights of central Peru, such as Yanachaga Chemillén National Park and the Rayantambo and Yulitunky waterfalls.

Our first stop will be in Pozuzo, a town founded in 1895 by Austro-German immigrants, the first colony of its kind globally. The settlers brought their traditions and architectural style, evident in the wooden and gable-roofed buildings.

During our visit, we'll tour iconic spots, including the Colonists' cemetery and a replica of the Norton, the ship the immigrants arrived on.

We'll also visit the Schafferer Museum to learn about the history of Austro-German colonization through artifacts brought from Europe.

Next, we'll head to Prusia, with its beautiful Germanic buildings, and take a break for a traditional lunch featuring a meat dish and a drink.

After lunch, we'll visit the Emperor Wilhelm I Suspension Bridge and explore an arts and crafts shop and a craft brewery where we'll sample some beer.

We will then return to Villa Rica, dropping you off at the meeting point between 5 and 6 pm.
