Prepare to immerse yourself in the high Andean landscapes and witness the geysers on this excursion to Laguna Brava, one of the notable natural areas in La Rioja.

Description

You can select one of the following tour options when you make your reservation. Both itineraries include hotel pickup in Villa Unión, transportation in an offroading vehicle, and a guide. Both routes will traverse high elevations ranging from 2,500 to 4,500 meters (8,200 to 14,760 feet).

Laguna Brava (8.5 hours)

Our journey begins at your hotel in Villa Union, heading north towards Vinchina. Upon arriving in Vinchina, we will continue through the Quebrada de la Troya. Near the end of this gorge, we will spot dinosaur footprints, arriving at the town of Jagüé.

From Jagüé, we'll continue through the Quebrada Santo Domingo, observing mountain shelters built between 1862 and 1874, after the Army of the Andes passed through. Our journey leads us to the Laguna Brava Provincial Reserve, a high Andean saltwater lake near the Argentine-Chilean border.

We will visit the Laguna Brava Viewpoint to see various species of vicuñas, guanacos, and other Andean wildlife. We will then proceed to the Golfito de los Flamencos to observe flamingos before our return to Villa Union, where we'll have a final stop at Laguna Brava to see the remnants of an airplane that made an emergency landing in 1964.

Laguna Brava, Geysers, and Laguna Mulas Muertas (10 hours)

If you opt for this extended option, a tour of the Laguna Brava geysers will be included following the previous itinerary. We will explore the volcanic phenomena and its significance.

We will then travel to the Laguna Mulas Muertas refuge, a small saltwater lake close to Laguna Brava, encountering a variety of Andean wildlife before returning to your hotel in Villa Union.
