Day Trip Details
Select one of the following tour options for your reservation. Both include hotel pickup in Villa Unión, transportation in an offroading vehicle, and a guide. Routes will traverse elevations from 2,500 to 4,500 meters (8,200 to 14,760 feet).
Laguna Brava (8.5 Hours)
The journey starts at your hotel in Villa Unión, heading north towards Vinchina. Upon arrival in Vinchina, we will proceed through the Quebrada de la Troya, where dinosaur footprints can be spotted. The small town of Jagüé marks the next stop.
From Jagüé, we will continue through Quebrada Santo Domingo, observing mountain shelters built between 1862 and 1874 after the Army of the Andes passed. We will arrive at the Laguna Brava Provincial Reserve, a high Andean saltwater lake near the Argentine-Chilean border.
Our exploration includes a visit to the Laguna Brava Viewpoint, where various species of vicuñas, guanacos, and other Andean wildlife can be seen. We will then visit Golfito de los Flamencos to observe flamingos up close.
Before returning to Villa Unión, we'll stop at Laguna Brava to view the remnants of an airplane that made an emergency landing in 1964.
Laguna Brava & Geysers (10 Hours)
This extended option includes a tour of the Laguna Brava geysers, where we will explore volcanic phenomena and their significance.
We will then visit a stone shelter in Laguna Brava, an old building that serves as a viewpoint to admire the lagoon and the Rioja highlands before heading back to your hotel in Villa Unión.
