In this activity, you'll discover the secrets of Spanish ham and try one of the star products of the Spanish food scene.
Description
At the scheduled time, we'll meet on Paseo Delicias ("Delicias Street") for a visit to a ham drying factory in Villares de la Reina.
Upon arrival, we'll enter the Experience Room to watch an introduction video about the factory's history and founder. The major processes of cutting, salting, curing, and processing Iberian ham occur here before it is sold.
We'll learn how to differentiate between various types of Iberian ham based on the race of pigs and their diet. This knowledge will enhance our understanding.
Next, we'll wear the required gear to tour the factory and discover how this fine ham is produced. Salamanca is recognized for its culinary tradition, particularly with sausages.
We will return to the Experience Room for a tasting of 100% Iberian acorn-fed ham and a selection of sausages, accompanied by a glass of wine from the Salamanca mountain range.
After a 2.5-hour visit, we will conclude our experience at the factory's main door.
