Get ready to be captivated by a magical sunset in the Tatacoa Desert, the second-largest arid area in Colombia, on this day trip from Villavieja. As night falls, you'll have the chance to see thousands of stars illuminating the vast desert sky!
Day Trip Details
At the designated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Villavieja. We'll set off toward the Tatacoa Desert to embark on an adventure through this unique tropical dry forest, considered one of the best stargazing destinations in the world.
Our first stop will be at the Red Desert in a town called Cuzco, known for its ochre-colored rock formations. Afterward, we will continue to the Gray Desert, exploring the Valle de los Fantasmas (Phantom Valley) along a winding path surrounded by dunes with labyrinth-like gullies that plunge as deep as 65 feet (20 meters). As the sun sets, it will resemble a lunar landscape.
Next, we will visit the Desert Oasis natural pool, where you'll have the opportunity to take a dip and enjoy a refreshing slushy or natural juice.
Lastly, the day will end at the Tatacoa Astronomical Observatory, where you'll learn about constellations, stars, the moon, and other celestial bodies. After 8 hours of this adventure, we'll drop you off at your hotel in Villavieja.
