For those eager to explore the extraordinary biodiversity of Colombia while enjoying a leisurely atmosphere, we invite you to embark on this picturesque boat excursion on the Magdalena River.
Unwind on the Magdalena River
Our adventure begins at the main park in Villavieja, where we will gather at the designated hour and walk together toward the port. Once there, we will board a classic canoe, prepared for our voyage along Colombia’s iconic river. After a brief safety orientation, we will set sail!
The Magdalena River, which starts in Huila and stretches all the way to the Caribbean Sea, is a true national gem, encompassing 24% of the country's land area!
During our journey downriver, covering roughly 7 km (4.3 mi), we will have the opportunity to admire the region’s distinctive flora and fauna. Keep an eye out for species such as Chilean cormorants, needle ducks, ospreys, cattle egrets, and tufted ducks.
We will also be on the lookout for iguanas, lizards, and charapa turtles; and if we’re fortunate, we might catch a glimpse of the rare Magdalena River otter! Plant aficionados will appreciate the sight of native flora like caracolí, saman, igua, matarratón, guácimo, payande, and the pancoger crops.
After approximately one hour cruising along the river, we will head back to our original location at the port.
