Our journey begins at the scheduled hour at Villavieja Main Park, where we will set off on a guided exploration of the most iconic locations in Villavieja. This town is a hotspot for archaeologists drawn to its rich fossil grounds.

Our first destination immerses us in the area’s prehistorical narrative at the Paleontological Museum. Here, discover three engaging rooms that highlight the various geological ages of our planet, featuring 950 artifacts unearthed locally. Prepare to be amazed by fossils of large turtles, sloth bears, crabs, and fish that roamed the Earth over 14 million years ago!

Next, we will visit the Casa Museo del Totumo (Totumo House Museum), showcasing a local artisan’s handcrafted goods made from the calabash tree, a species indigenous to the Tatacoa Desert. Don’t miss the chance to acquire a unique traditional souvenir!

Following this, we’ll stroll to the Magdalena River Port for a 45-minute boat ride.
