Tour Details
At the designated time, we'll meet at Villavieja Main Park to start the guided tour of the most renowned sites in Villavieja. The tour begins with a visit to the Paleontological Museum, featuring three rooms showcasing the geological eras and 950 pieces discovered in the region, including fossils of giant turtles, sloth bears, crabs, and fish from over 14 million years ago.
The next stop is the Casa Museo del Totumo, where a local artisan displays handmade items from the calabash tree, a plant native to the Tatacoa Desert. Traditional souvenirs are available for purchase.
Following this, we will walk to the Magdalena River Port for a 45-minute boat tour. During the journey, we will share the town's mysteries and legends while you observe the local flora and fauna. Keep an eye out for iguanas, turtles, and birds.
We will also visit La Planta Tatacoa, an artisan beer factory, where you can enjoy a beer and take pictures if desired.
Finally, we will return to Central Park after a total of 4 hours of exploration in the paleontological capital of Huila.
