Tour Details

At the designated time, we'll meet at Villavieja Main Park to start this guided tour of the most renowned sites in Villavieja, a town attracting archaeologists for fossil investigations.

We'll begin our tour at the Paleontological Museum, where you'll explore three rooms showcasing geological eras and 950 pieces discovered in the region, including fossils of giant turtles, sloth bears, crabs, and fish from over 14 million years ago.

Next, we'll visit the Casa Museo del Totumo (Totumo House Museum), featuring handmade items crafted from the calabash tree, native to the Tatacoa Desert. You can purchase a traditional souvenir here.

Afterward, we'll walk to the Magdalena River Port for a 45-minute boat tour, during which we'll share the town's mysteries and legends. Keep an eye out for iguanas, turtles, and birds as you enjoy the flora and fauna.

We'll also visit La Planta Tatacoa, an artisan beer factory, where you may enjoy a beer and take photos.

Finally, we’ll return to Central Park after a total of 4 hours exploring the paleontological capital of Huila.
