Tour Details
At the designated time, we'll meet at Villavieja Main Park to start this guided tour of the most renowned sites in Villavieja, a town that attracts many archaeologists for fossil investigations.
We'll begin our tour at the Paleontological Museum, where you'll explore three rooms showcasing geological eras and 950 pieces discovered in the region, including fossils of giant turtles, sloth bears, crabs, and fish from over 14 million years ago.
Continuing, we'll visit the Casa Museo del Totumo, featuring handmade items crafted from the calabash tree, native to the Tatacoa Desert. A traditional souvenir may be purchased here.
Next, we'll head to the Magdalena River Port for a 45-minute boat tour. During the journey, we'll share the town's mysteries and legends while you enjoy its flora and fauna. Look out for iguanas, turtles, and birds.
We will also visit La Planta Tatacoa, an artisan beer factory, where you can enjoy a beer and take photos if you wish.
Finally, we'll return to Central Park after a total of 4 hours exploring the paleontological capital of Huila.
