With this hike around Miles Canyon, you'll observe the impressive scenery that the Yukon has to offer and learn about the gold rush stories throughout Whitehorse.

Miles Canyon Hike

At the indicated time, we will meet at the Sternwheeler Hotel main door in Whitehorse. We will take a bus which will transport us along our hiking route along the Yukon River to explore the area around the Miles Canyon.

For three hours, we will hike around the volcanic rocks of Miles Canyon and enjoy views of the forests and trails alongside the turquoise Yukon River.

As we explore the outskirts of Whitehorse, we will learn about the history and significance of the region in the city's development. The gold rush influenced the establishment of Whitehorse as the endpoint for paddle-wheel riverboats navigating the river.

To further appreciate the gold rush history, we will visit Canyon City, a ghost town recognized as a Yukon government Heritage Site. During the 1898 gold rush, Miles Canyon was a significant obstacle for those traveling through the Yukon River.

We will return to Whitehorse at approximately 4 pm.
