Whitehorse Ice Fishing

The day begins at 1 pm at the Sternwheeler Hotel & Conference Centre, from where we'll head to one of the many lakes in the Yukon. This area is notable for its variety of lakes and rivers, making ice fishing an ideal activity.

We will take a snowshoe walk through the area, experiencing the frozen terrain. Upon reaching the chosen lake, we'll engage in Ice fishing, a practice that dates back 4000 years and was crucial for survival. After arriving at the lake, we'll drill a hole through the ice, which can be up to 1 metre thick in winter.

Next, we'll build a small bonfire to keep warm and settle around the hole to start fishing. The Yukon lakes host various fish species, including northern pike, lake trout, arctic grayling, and rainbow trout.

If successful in our catch, our guide will slice the fish and cook it over the fire, providing a meal made from scratch.

Finally, we will return to the starting point by 5 pm.
