Whitehorse Ice Fishing

The day begins at 1 pm at the Sternwheeler Hotel & Conference Centre, from where we will head to one of the many lakes in the Yukon. This region is known for its variety of lakes and rivers, making ice fishing an ideal activity.

We will take a snowshoe walk through the area, experiencing the frozen landscape. Once we arrive at the lake selected by the guide, we will engage in Ice fishing, a practice with a 4000-year history. Upon reaching the lake in Whitehorse, we will drill a hole through the ice, which can be up to 1 meter thick in winter.

Next, we will start a small bonfire to stay warm as we fish. The Yukon lakes are home to various species including northern pike, lake trout, arctic grayling, and rainbow trout.

If we are fortunate enough to catch a fish, our guide will prepare it and cook it over the fire, providing a unique meal experience.

Finally, we will return to the starting point by 5 pm.
