Beatrix Potter Lake District Tour
At 9:05 am, we'll meet at Windermere train station and board a minibus to Wray Castle, located 20 minutes away.
At this fortress, protected by the National Trust, we will learn about the connections between Beatrix Potter and the Lake District, where she celebrated her 16th birthday, fostering her love for the area.
After viewing the exterior of this 19th-century neo-Gothic castle, we will continue to the village of Near Sawrey, where Beatrix Potter got married. We will walk through Near Sawrey, recognizing locations depicted in Potter's illustrations, including Tower Bank Arms and Hill Top, her home purchased with proceeds from her publications.
Our next stop will be Esthwaite Water, noted by Potter as "ultra-romantic." Nearby Hawkshead is where she met her husband, William Heelis.
The tour will conclude with visits to areas where Potter acquired lands, including Tarn Hows, Coniston Water, and Yewdale Valley, while learning about locations used in the film Miss Potter.
We'll finish the tour at 1:05 pm, returning to the starting point.
