Brontë Sisters Tour
We'll meet at 9 am at Station Precinct and leave Windermere to enter Brontë Country, the area where the Brontë sisters drew inspiration from. The tour features the Lake District National Park, highlighted by a stop in Cowan Bridge, where they attended the Clergy Daughter's School.
Next, we will travel through Lancashire to Wycoller, the inspiration for Ferndean Manor in Jane Eyre. Participants will explore the village's bridges and Gothic and Romanesque ruins.
We will then visit Ponden Hall, the inspiration for Thrushcross Grange from Wuthering Heights, and engage in a discussion about its similarity to the farm described in The Tenant of Wildfell Hall.
Our next stop is Haworth, where we will visit the Brontë Parsonage Museum, which contains the largest collection of the sisters' belongings, including furniture, dresses, and books. We will also visit the family cemetery and the Black Bull Inn.
The tour concludes in Windermere at 5:30 pm.
