Lake District Half-Day Tour

Did you know that the Lake District is the largest national park in the UK? On this half-day tour from Windermere, we'll enjoy its incredible scenery and see eight of its springs.

Lake District Half-Day Tour

At 2 pm, we will meet at Windermere train station and board a minibus to explore the north of the Lake District National Park.

The first stop will be at Kirkstone Inn, the highest inhabited building in the park, offering views of Lake Windermere and the town of Ambleside.

We will descend into the valley of the River Rothay to see Brothers Water Lake and the towns of Patterdale and Glenridding. Next, we will visit Ullswater Lake, the second largest spring in the Lake District, with links to poet William Wordsworth.

Our next destination is Blencathra, where we will view its summit and the slopes of Sharp Edge, followed by a visit to the Castlerigg Stone Circle.

We will then explore Derwentwater Lake, home to vacation residences of author Beatrix Potter.

Our tour continues to Ashness Bridge and Surprise View, offering views of Bassenthwaite Lake, the Solway Firth, and the distant mountains of Scotland.

In the final part of the route, we will see Thirlmere, Dunmail Raise mountain pass, and the lakes of Grasmere and Rydal Water. The excursion will finish around 6:20 pm at the starting point.
