Lake District Half-Day Tour
At 2 pm, we'll meet at Windermere train station and board a minibus to explore the north of the Lake District National Park, the largest in the UK.
The first stop will be at Kirkstone Inn, the highest inhabited building in the park, offering views of Lake Windermere and Ambleside. We will then descend into the valley of the River Rothay to visit Brothers Water Lake and the towns of Patterdale and Glenridding. Following this, we will head to Ullswater Lake, the second largest spring in the Lake District, discussing its connection to poet William Wordsworth.
Next, we will visit Blencathra, known for its 868-meter-high summit and Sharp Edge slopes, before exploring the Castlerigg Stone Circle. Afterward, we will proceed to Derwentwater Lake, notable for being near two vacation homes of children's author Beatrix Potter and the filming location for scenes from Star Wars.
We will continue to Ashness Bridge, the most photographed bridge in the area, and stop at Surprise View for vistas of Bassenthwaite Lake, Solway Firth, and the distant Scottish mountains.
In the final portion, we will see Thirlmere, Dunmail Raise mountain pass, Grasmere, and Rydal Water before concluding the excursion around 6:20 pm at the starting point.
