Delve into the history of the Tang Dynasty, Shakyamuni and Emperor Gaozong on this private tour of the Famen Temple and the Qianling Mausoleum.
Description
At the indicated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Xi'an and set off on an hour and a half long journey to the Famen Temple, one of the most important Buddhist temples in China that houses the relics of Shakyamuni.
During the guided tour of the Famen Temple, which will last between 2.5 and 3 hours, we'll admire its outstanding pagoda and learn why this sanctuary is revered by the followers of Buddha, who come here in search of meditation and tranquility.
After visiting the temple, we'll go to a traditional restaurant in the area for a typical Chinese lunch featuring regional specialties. After refueling, we'll head to the Qianling Mausoleum, built 1300 years ago at an altitude of over 1000 meters (3280 feet).
Upon arrival, we'll walk the "spiritual path" to the entrance of the mausoleum, which commemorates the members of the House of Li, the imperial family of the Tang Dynasty. At the gate, two stone lions will welcome us.
To learn about the history of this lineage, we'll go on a guided tour of the complex and visit the tombs of Emperor Gaozong and his wife, Empress Wu, as well as Prince Yide's Mausoleum, where we'll admire impressive murals depicting scenes of palace life.
At the end of the tour, we'll head back to your hotel in Xi'an, arriving 8 hours after pickup.
