Why visit the Terracotta Army?

The Terracotta Army, considered one of the 8th wonders of the world, is a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. This location consists of over 7000 real-size soldiers, horses, and carriages, with a significant historical background. They were discovered by local farmers searching for water near Xian.

The museum features 3 pits filled with the funerary art of the self-proclaimed emperor Qin Shi Huang, who reportedly ordered these pieces to be constructed in 221 B.C.. Visitors can view some statues outside the pits and learn about the enamel decoration in different colours. The meanings of the symbols on the warrior's clothing and the restoration techniques used are also explored during the visit.
