Central Peru: 5, 6, or 8-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Pucallpa - Journey to Puerto Inca

Upon your arrival at the Pucallpa airport or bus terminal, we will embark on an exciting adventure towards Puerto Inca, located a two-and-a-half-hour drive from the city. After settling into your hotel, you will have the freedom to explore the town at your own pace during the morning or afternoon. Later, at 6 pm, we will gather for a sampling of local cocktails to tantalize your taste buds before indulging in a dinner featuring a selection of traditional dishes.

Day 2: Puerto Inca - Discovering Huánuco

Your second day begins with a tour through the Huánuco region. Departing from Puerto Inca at 7:30 am, we will visit a local fish farm to learn how the freshest fish are cultivated. Following this, our journey will take us to the Pintuyacu River, a stunning natural oasis inviting you to take a refreshing dip in its crystal-clear waters.

After enjoying a lunch of grilled fish, we will embark on a hiking trail through the jungle, where foraging for wild fruits and vegetables will add to the adventure. By mid-afternoon, we will return to Puerto Inca, and after another delightful dinner, you’ll have the opportunity to join a salsa class!

Day 3: Puerto Inca - Into the Amazon Rainforest

On the third day, we rise early to depart for the village of Quimpichari. Here, we will step into the heart of the Amazon Rainforest for an hour-long hike amidst the vibrant tropical flora, with fishing breaks along the way.

Lunch will involve preparing a meal over a bonfire using our catch of the day, enjoyed in the company of fellow adventurers. Our exploration continues until we find a perfect spot to set up camp for the night, enveloped by the symphony of the jungle.

Day 4: Amazon Rainforest - Return to Puerto Inca

After a breakfast amidst the enchanting scenery of central Peru, we will head to the La Viuda caves, renowned for their intriguing bas-reliefs. Following our visit, we’ll enjoy a hiking route through the jungle that leads to the Viuda ravine, where you can savor leisurely swimming and fishing in its tranquil waters.

After lunch, we'll make our way back to Puerto Inca for an evening filled with farewell snacks, cocktails, and lively music.

Day 5: Puerto Inca - Departure to Pucallpa

As our journey concludes, we will enjoy breakfast before taking you back to the airport or bus station, ensuring you have ample time to catch your flight or bus home.

Extended 6-Day Tour

With an extra day in the itinerary, the third day of this option features a visit to the renowned Río Hirviente (Boiling River) to admire its steaming turquoise waters, followed by an encounter with the Indigenous Mayantuyacu community. Here, you will have the chance to meet the village shaman, who will share insights into local rituals. After lunch in the community, we will return to Puerto Inca to continue to Pucallpa.

Extended 8-Day Tour

The comprehensive 8-day tour incorporates all elements of the 6-day itinerary, with an additional boat ride on the Pachitea River and a visit to an Indigenous Ashaninca community as part of the second extra day. You will also enjoy an extra day at the Quimpichari campsite, allowing for further exploration of the jungle, swimming in the creeks, or participating in optional activities like birdwatching.

Accommodation & Meals

This tour through central Peru includes accommodation for 3, 4, or 6 nights at Los Incas Lodge in Puerto Inca, along with 1 or 2 nights camping at the Quimpichari site.
