Can you imagine walking through steam in the middle of the Amazon rainforest, where the water reaches temperatures close to boiling point? On this day trip to the boiling river of Mayantuyacu, we'll live a unique experience as we discover the mysterious Shanay Timpishka, a sacred place for the indigenous communities and a natural phenomenon that continues to surprise science.

Tour Details

Between 6 am and 7 am, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Pucallpa and drive to Honoria. After a 2.5-hour minibus ride, we'll board a boat to take us to a trail leading to the boiling river of Mayantuyacu.

Upon arrival, we'll disembark and begin an hour-long hike through the lush Peruvian jungle until we reach the boiling river. Along the way, we'll visit several sanctuaries promoting ancestral Amazonian medicine.

At our destination, we'll observe the vapours rising from the river waters and discuss various theories regarding the origin of these warm waters, which remain a mystery to science.

We will learn about the mythological stories of indigenous communities such as the Ashaninka people, for whom this river, known as Shanay Timpishka, was created by an enormous serpent called Yacumama.

You will have 3 hours of free time for lunch and to enjoy the surroundings. It is recommended to bring something to eat for the excursion.

The excursion will conclude at 6 pm, at which point you will be taken back to your hotel.
