Discover the amazing Yellowknife Ice Road on our trip, which runs through the frozen landscapes of the Northwestern Territories, constructed every January.
Yellowknife Ice Road Trip
At 2 pm, we will pick you up from your hotel in Yellowknife and proceed to the shores of the Great Slave Lake. In winter, this large body of water freezes, facilitating the creation of the Ice Road.
We will walk, drive, and lie down on this winter track, which exists between December and April. During the trip, we will see traditional boat-houses along the Great Slave Lake and learn about the local customs.
The trip includes a visit to the impressive snow castle, a fortress located on the Ice Road that only stands during winter and features a new design each year. You can take a picture next to its crafted walls as a souvenir.
The Ice Road connects Yellowknife with the First Nations community of Dettah, where we will learn about the ancestry of this culture that has inhabited the region for generations.
We will return over the Great Slave Lake on the Ice Road, arriving back at your hotel at 3:30 p.m.
The snow castle
The snow castle is open only during March. If your tour occurs before March, you will see the castle being constructed.
