Yellowknife Ice Road Trip

At 2 pm, we will pick you up from your hotel in Yellowknife and head to the shores of the Great Slave Lake. In winter, the lake freezes, allowing for the creation of the Ice Road. We will walk, drive, and lie down on this winter track, which exists between December and April. The trip includes views of traditional boat-houses along the lake and insights into the customs of the local residents.

Next, we will visit the snow castle, a fortress built on the Ice Road. This monument, only standing during winter, is constructed in a different style each year. You will have the opportunity to take photos with its crafted walls. The Ice Road connects Yellowknife to the First Nations community of Dettah, where we will learn about the ancestry of this local culture.

We will return over the Great Slave Lake on the Ice Road, arriving at your hotel by 3:30 p.m.

The snow castle

The snow castle is open only during March. Tours before March will show the castle in the process of being built.
