Surakarta and Hindu Temples Private Tour

After being picked up from your hotel, you'll be driven to Surakarta, approximately two hours from Yogyakarta. Your first stop will be the Radya Pustaka Museum, Indonesia's second oldest museum, featuring a collection of 'Wayang' puppets used in shadow puppet theatre. You will explore the local markets, where Surakarta is renowned for its Batik textiles.

Next, visit the Mangkunegaran Palace, a well-preserved royal palace built in 1757, still inhabited by descendants of Java's royal family.

After some free time for lunch, continue your tour with visits to two significant temples. First, explore the Javanese-Hindu Candi Cetho, a 15th-century temple complex situated nearly 5000 feet (1500 m) above sea level on Mount Lawu. Then, discover the Sukuh Temple, known for its erotic reliefs and fertility symbols, also dating from the 15th century.

After a full day of cultural exploration, you will be returned to Yogyakarta.
