Surakarta and Hindu Temples Private Tour
After pick-up from your hotel, a drive of around two hours will take you to Surakarta. Your first stop is the Radya Pustaka Museum, the second oldest museum in Indonesia, featuring an impressive collection of 'Wayang' puppets. Next, you'll visit local markets where you can find stunning Batik textiles.
Continue to the Mangkunegaran Palace, built in 1757, which is one of the best-preserved royal palaces in the city and remains home to descendants of Java's royal family.
You will have free time to eat, followed by visits to two significant temples. First is the Javanese-Hindu Candi Cetho, a 15th-century temple complex located almost 5000 feet (1500 m) above sea level on Mount Lawu. Next, explore the Sukuh Temple, known for its erotic reliefs and fertility symbols, also built around the same time.
After a full day of culture and history, you will be dropped off back in Yogyakarta.
