After being picked up from your hotel, you will be driven to Surakarta, approximately two hours from Yogyakarta. The first destination is the Radya Pustaka Museum, the second oldest museum in Indonesia, known for its collection of 'Wayang' puppets used in traditional shadow puppet theatre. Next, visit one of the local markets where you can purchase Batik textiles.

Then, visit the Mangkunegaran Palace, a well-preserved royal palace built in 1757 that remains in the hands of Java's royal family descendants.

You will have free time to eat before visiting two notable temples. First is the Javanese-Hindu Candi Cetho, a 15th century temple complex located on the slopes of Mount Lawu, nearly 5000 feet (1500 m) above sea level. Afterward, explore Sukuh Temple, known for its erotic reliefs and fertility symbols.

After a day of cultural experiences, you will return to Yogyakarta.
