Clifford's Tower Ticket
A visit to Clifford's Tower will take you on a journey back in time. Built during the reign of King Henry III, this place has served as both a royal mint and a medieval fortress. It is the largest surviving part of York Castle.
During your visit, you'll explore an important part of York's history. In the 14th and 15th centuries, the tower functioned as a treasury, prison, and seat of royal power.
In 1684, the tower was largely destroyed by fire. It was subsequently rebuilt and later served as a new prison and court during the 18th and 19th centuries, establishing it as the main surviving element of York Castle.
Today, visitors can access the roof deck of Clifford's Tower, which provides views of the historic centre of York, including its medieval buildings and the Cathedral.
