Moors, Whitby & The Yorkshire Steam Railway Day Trip
Meet opposite the Dean Court Hotel at 9 am in York for a day trip through Strensall, Sheriff Hutton, and Hovingham.
First stop is Hutton-le-Hole for traditional stone houses and the village common. Next, drive over the North York Moors towards Blakey Ridge and Ralph's Cross, before reaching Whitby. The guide will share the town's history and points of interest upon arrival.
You will have 2 hours and 30 minutes to explore Whitby and visit attractions such as the Endeavour Experience, Captain Cook Museum, Bark Endeavour, and Whitby Abbey. It is recommended to try fish and chips at the Magpie Café. Alternative drop-offs in Whitby include the Harbour or the Abbey.
Experience the North Yorkshire Moors Railway with a train leaving Whitby at 2 pm for a 45-minute journey around Grosmont and Goathland; this option requires payment on the day. If not taking the train, the bus will travel to Goathland, exploring fictional locations from the British TV show.
The tour continues to Snod Hill to learn about the RAF Fylingdales Pyramid and the Hole of Horcum. The return journey to York offers views of the Howardian Hills and Howard Castle.
The tour concludes back at the meeting point in York at 5:15 pm.
