Moors, Whitby & The Yorkshire Steam Railway Day Trip
We'll meet opposite the Dean Court Hotel at 9 am in York and begin our day trip passing through Strensall, Sheriff Hutton, and Hovingham. Our first stop will be Hutton-le-Hole to see the traditional stone-built houses and the village common. Then, we'll drive over the North York Moors towards Blakey Ridge and Ralph's Cross, before heading to Whitby. Upon arrival, the guide will discuss the town's history and points of interest.
You will have 2 hours 30 minutes to explore Whitby and its attractions which include the Endeavour Experience, Captain Cook Museum, Bark Endeavour, and Whitby Abbey. It is also recommended to try fish and chips at the Magpie Café. Optional drop-off points in Whitby include the Harbour or the Abbey.
There is an option to experience the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, with a train leaving Whitby at 2 pm for a 45-minute journey around Grosmont and Goathland. This train ride can be paid on the day. If not taking the train ride, the bus will proceed to Goathland, where you will learn about fictional locations from the TV show.
The tour will then continue to Snod Hill to learn about the RAF Fylingdales Pyramid and the Hole of Horcum. On the way back to York, we will pass views of the Howardian Hills and Howard Castle.
The tour concludes at the meeting point in York at 5:15 pm.
