North York Moors Park & Whitby Day Trip
We'll meet opposite the Dean Court Hotel at the indicated time in York and begin our trip with a scenic drive through the Vale of York.
Our first stop will be Kilburn White Horse Hill, where you'll learn about the figure carved into the hillside in the mid-19th century. Next, we'll visit Helmsley to see the medieval castle and explore the village.
The tour continues into the North York Moors National Park, passing through Hutton-le-Hole, Blakey Ridge (the highest point on the Moors), and Ralph's Cross. We will then proceed to Lealholm.
Afterward, we'll head to Whitby while learning about the town's history. We'll stop at the Captain Cook statue and Whalebone arch, then you can choose to be dropped off at the harbour or the abbey. You'll have 3 hours to explore Whitby and attractions such as the Endeavour Experience, Captain Cook Museum, and the Bark Endeavour. Don't miss the fish and chips at the Magpie Café.
Next, the bus will take us to Goathland, where we'll discuss the fictional locations of 'Hogsmead' from Harry Potter and 'Aidensfield' from the TV show Heartbeat.
The tour will then proceed to Hole of Horcum, before returning to York, arriving after 8 hours.
