North York Moors Park & Whitby Day Trip
We'll meet opposite the Dean Court Hotel at the specified time in York and begin our day trip with a scenic drive through the Vale of York.
Our first stop will be Kilburn White Horse Hill to learn about the figure carved into the hillside in the mid-19th century. Next, we'll visit Helmsley to see the medieval castle and explore the village.
The tour continues into the North York Moors National Park, going through Hutton-le-Hole past Blakey Ridge, the highest point on the Moors, and Ralph's Cross. Following this, we will proceed to Lealholm.
We'll then head to Whitby while receiving explanations about the town's history. Upon arrival, we'll stop at the Captain Cook statue and Whalebone arch, after which you can choose to be dropped off at the harbour or the abbey. You will have 3 hours to explore Whitby, including attractions such as the Endeavour Experience, the Captain Cook Museum, and the Bark Endeavour. Sampling fish and chips at the famous Magpie Café is recommended.
Afterwards, the bus will take us to Goathland, where we will learn about the fictional locations of 'Hogsmead' from Harry Potter and 'Aidensfield' from the TV show Heartbeat.
The tour will conclude at Hole of Horcum before returning to York, completing the experience in approximately 8 hours.
