At the scheduled time, we'll meet beside the Whip-Ma-Whop-Ma-Gate sign, the shortest street in York with the longest name. From there we will begin our petrifying tour of the witches.
The tour starts at Shambles, leading us to the Minister Quarter, Petergate, and Stonegate. We will explore the legends surrounding the witches in York, with a real witch revealing various facts throughout the tour.
We will learn about the history of the real witches of Yorkshire and the injustices they faced. We will continue walking through the cobblestone streets of York while discussing Mary Bateman and her alleged activities.
The next stop is the church of St Crux, formerly the largest medieval church in York, followed by King's Square and Bookbinders Alley, where the story of a magic tree linked to a witch will be shared.
In the Minister Quarter, we will stop in front of a pub once inhabited by a famous conspirator. We will walk through Petergate, continuing to hear scary stories before arriving at York Minister, one of the most impressive cathedrals in the world.
Before concluding our tour, we will walk through Stonegate to discover more sinister facts. After an hour, we will return to Shambles to end our tour.
