Witches of York Tour

Join us on this tour of the Witches of York, to discover the darker side of this beautiful walled city. Chilling stories, ancient legends, and scary secrets await you.

Description

At the scheduled time, we'll meet beside the Whip-Ma-Whop-Ma-Gate sign, the shortest street in York with the longest name. From there, we will begin our tour of the witches.

We will start by touring Shambles, leading us to the Minister Quarter, Petergate, and Stonegate. Throughout the tour, a real witch will reveal the legends surrounding the witches in this city.

We will learn about the history of the real witches of Yorkshire and the injustices they faced. We will walk through the cobblestone streets of York at sunset while discussing Mary Bateman.

Next, we will visit the church of St Crux and then walk to King's Square and Bookbinders Alley to hear about a magic tree related to witchcraft.

We will continue to the iconic Minister Quarter, stopping at a pub associated with a famous conspirator. We will hear more stories on Petergate and conclude in front of York Minster.

Before concluding our Witches of York tour, we will walk through Stonegate to discover more sinister facts. After an hour, we will return to Shambles to end our tour.
