Yorkshire Dales National Park Day Trip

We'll meet in Duncombe Place at the time indicated in York and set off westbound towards the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

Our first stop will be Bolton Castle, where Mary Queen of Scots resided. Here you'll learn about the area's history, admire the views and enjoy a traditional Yorkshire tea.

On the way to our next stop, we'll drive through the scenic Askrigg, known as the fictional village of Darrowby from James Herriot's All Creatures Great and Small TV series.

The tour will then continue to Hawes, where we will spend 1 hour and 30 minutes exploring. You can visit the Wensleydale Creamery Visitor Centre to sample cheeses, check out The Dales Countryside Museum, and browse quaint shops. After leaving Hawes, we will head into the Yorkshire Dales National Park, passing through charming villages alongside the River Wharfe and making several photo stops.

We'll stop at Kettlewell, known for being a filming location for the Calendar Girls movie, to explore or enjoy a drink at a local pub. The journey continues through the countryside to Kilnsey Crag, Grassington, and Nidderdale.

Our final stop will be Pateley Bridge, where you can visit the Guinness Book of Records 'Oldest Sweet Shop in the World'.

We'll arrive back in York after 8 hours.
