Yorkshire Dales National Park Day Trip
We'll meet in Duncombe Place at the time indicated in York and set off westbound towards the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
Our first stop will be Bolton Castle, where Mary Queen of Scots resided. Here you'll learn about the area's history and enjoy traditional Yorkshire tea.
On the way to our next stop, we'll drive through Askrigg, the fictional village of Darrowby from James Herriot's All Creatures Great and Small TV series.
The tour will continue to Hawes, where we'll spend one hour and thirty minutes exploring. You can visit the Wensleydale Creamery Visitor Centre to sample cheeses, visit The Dales Countryside Museum, and explore local shops. Following Hawes, we'll head into the Yorkshire Dales National Park, passing through villages alongside the River Wharfe and making several photo stops.
We'll stop at Kettlewell, known for the Calendar Girls movie, to explore the village or enjoy a drink. Then we'll continue through the countryside to Kilnsey Crag, Grassington, and Nidderdale.
Our final stop will be Pateley Bridge, where you can visit the Guinness Book of Records 'Oldest Sweet Shop in the World'.
We'll arrive back in York after 8 hours.
