- 1 Bewertung
On this hike in the Calcarazzi Mountains, we will explore the volcanic landscapes of Mount Etna and the Sicilian coast.
Hike Details
We will meet at the Schiena dell'Asino parking at the designated time to start the hike through the Calcarazzi Mountains, known for their natural beauty.
The 7.5-kilometre (4.6-mile) trek will take us around the Bove Valley and to the craters in the Calcarazzi Mountains, formed after the volcanic eruption in December 1991.
We will begin under the shade of pine trees, and after navigating some curves, enjoy a view of Sicily's southeastern coastline.
At the peak of the Schiena dell'Asino route, we will have a panoramic view of the Bove Valley, an 8-kilometre (5-mile) geological depression characterized by volcanic sand.
From an altitude of 2245 metres (7365 feet), we will proceed inland, leaving Bove Valley to approach the Silvestre Superiore crater for another scenic view. We will then descend to the Sapienza refuge and return to the initial meeting point, which will take approximately 4-5 hours.
