Walking Tour of Stone Town & Boat Ride to Prison Island
You will be picked up from your hotel in Zanzibar at the scheduled time, followed by a visit to Stone Town, the historic center of the island's capital, to begin the guided walking tour.
During the walk, you will learn about the history and architecture of various emblematic sights. Highlights include the House of Wonders, which houses the Museum of History and Culture of Zanzibar and the Swahili Coast; the Palace Museum; the Old Fort; and the Anglican Cathedral, where you will view the monument to the slaves.
Following the walking tour, you will proceed to the port for a 20-minute boat ride to Prison Island. Initially used as a prison for rebellious slaves, it later served as a quarantine station for yellow fever. Currently, it is a tourist resort featuring a collection of endangered giant tortoises.
Afterwards, you will return to Stone Town, concluding the tour with a total duration of approximately 6 hours.
