Description
This journey begins at Zermatt Railway Station. Exchange your voucher at one of the station's ticket offices or machines to prepare for magnificent views of the Swiss Alps.
The Gornergrat reaches a height of 3,100 metres (10,170 feet) and travels over bridges, through tunnels, across lakes, and into forests. As the train approaches its highest point, see the pyramid-shaped Matterhorn and Gorner Glacier, Mount Liksamm, the twin Castor and Pollux summits, and the Monte Rosa massif, highest peak in Switzerland.
At The Gornergrat's peak, enjoy the Alps at your leisure. You can take pictures, hike, or visit the Gornergrat Hotel terrace viewpoint.
There is no precise return time on the train ticket; return to Zermatt at your convenience on the same day. Please refer to the train's schedule.
Schedule
The first Gornergrat train leaves Zermatt Station at 7 am. Departures follow between 24 to 48 minutes apart. The last return train from Gornergrat to Zermatt is at 7:22 pm between July and August, and at 5:52 pm between September and June.
