Description
This journey begins at Zermatt Railway Station. Stop at a ticket office or machine to exchange your voucher and prepare for views of the Swiss Alps!
The Gornergrat reaches a height of 3,100 metres (10,170 feet), traveling over bridges, through tunnels, across lakes, and into forests. Approaching the highest point, you'll see the pyramid-shaped Matterhorn, a notable mountain in the Alps.
Visible sights include the Gorner Glacier, Mount Liksamm, the twin Castor and Pollux summits, and the Monte Rosa massif, the highest peak in Switzerland.
At The Gornergrat's peak, you're free to enjoy the area, take pictures, hike, or visit the Gornergrat Hotel terrace viewpoint.
As no precise return time is indicated on the train ticket, you can return to Zermatt at your convenience, as long as it's the same day. Please refer to the train's schedule.
Schedule
The first Gornergrat train departs Zermatt Station at 7 am. Subsequent departures occur every 24 to 48 minutes. The last return train from Gornergrat to Zermatt is at 7:22 pm from July to August, and at 5:52 pm from September to June.
