Get off the beaten tourist track and connect with nature exploring two of Chiapas' hidden natural wonders on this tour of the Sima de las Cotorras and El Aguacero Waterfall from San Cristóbal de las Casas.

At 4 am we'll pick you up from your hotel in San Cristóbal de las Casas and head west to Chiapas to discover the Sima de las Cotorras and El Aguacero Waterfall.

After a two and a half hour drive, we'll arrive at the Sima de las Cotorras, a 140-meter deep karst chasm. We'll enter the viewpoint and walk around part of the perimeter to admire the cave paintings, towering trees, and unique species of tropical forest. Look for the parrots that fly in a unique circular pattern around the chasm.

Next, we'll head to the El Ocote Biosphere Reserve for a short hike through the jungle. This includes climbing down 740 steps with views of the La Venta River and surrounding caves. Once at the bottom, we'll enter the river to approach the 75-meter high El Aguacero Waterfall, where you can enjoy a refreshing dip.

After our time at the waterfall, we'll make our way back, with a stop in Tuxtla Gutierrez for lunch. Finally, we will return to San Cristóbal de las Casas, where you'll be dropped off at your hotel between 5 pm and 6 pm.
