Terceira Whale Watching

We'll meet at the agreed time at the Angra do Heroísmo marina to begin our boat tour around the coast of Terceira island. As we sail the Atlantic ocean, we'll enjoy views of the island from the boat.

You'll have the opportunity to see whales in their natural habitat. The Azores' strategic position between Europe and America makes it an important stop-off point for migrating whales at different times of the year. In summer, pilot whales are common, while blue whales, the largest animal on earth, are more prevalent during spring and autumn.

During the tour, we'll learn about the characteristics of these protected mammals and the importance of caring for the environment and preserving the biodiversity of Terceira. If fortunate, we might see friendly dolphins alongside them.

After 3 hours of sailing, we'll return to the starting point.

Important Information

Whales are commonly found off the coast of Terceira island. However, they are wild animals and unpredictable. We cannot guarantee the number of whales nor the species we'll see during the tour.
