Port Louis & Pamplemousses Private Day Trip

On this private excursion around the north of Mauritius, you'll discover Port Louis, the island’s capital. We'll also go to Pamplemousses, where we'll stroll through the botanical gardens, enter an old sugar factory that now houses a museum, and visit the Labourdonnais plantation, where you'll try local rum and tropical sorbets.

Description

After collecting you from your hotel at the indicated time, we'll head for Port Louis, established as a secure port in the 17th century and today a commercial centre and the most important harbour in the region. We'll pass along the streets of Port Louis and browse Central Market, a traditional commercial space with various aromas and colors.

Our next stop is Caudan Waterfront, a small peninsula on the bay and the commercial centre of Port Louis, featuring buildings like the old meteorological observatory transformed into restaurants and shops.

Our guide will bring you to Chinatown, where you'll travel through the traditional ‘friendship gate’. After visiting pagodas and small restaurants, we'll see Fort Adelaide, a colonial citadel dominating the city. You'll have free time for lunch.

Next, we'll visit the Botanical Gardens in Pamplemousses, which date back over 200 years. You'll admire the famous giant water lilies at your own pace. You can also opt for an additional visit to an old sugar factory, “L’Aventure du Sucre,” which showcases its sugar cane plantation and fruit gardens, and tour its restored halls while sampling rum, juice, and jams.

The tour concludes with a return to your hotel approximately 8 hours after the initial pickup.
