Cisternino Guided Tour
Experience the charm of Cisternino in the Itria Valley with our guided tour. We'll begin our journey at Piazza Garibaldi, where our expert guide will lead us through this notable village.
Our first stop will be the Mother Church of San Nicola, a significant 12th-century structure built on the foundations of an ancient basilica. We will take a moment to appreciate its neoclassical façade, reconstructed in 1848. Next, a panoramic viewpoint will provide stunning views of the Itria Valley, Trulli houses, and surrounding olive trees.
As we continue, we will observe examples of Cisternino's "spontaneous architecture" and walk past notable historic noble buildings and decorated alleys featuring traditional Apulian chianche stones.
Our tour includes a visit to the majestic Norman tower from the 11th century, rising 55 feet (17 meters) on a hill in the Murge plateau. We will also explore the Church of San Quirico and Giulitta, an impressive 18th-century building linked to a mysterious legend.
After approximately 2 hours of exploration, we will conclude our guided tour of this captivating village.
