Desert Lake Trip

Explore the natural beauty of the Andes with this trip to Desert Lake. You will enjoy a pleasant boat ride and take in views of the Vespignani Glacier.

Lake of the Desert Trip

At the scheduled time, we will pick you up at your hotel in El Chaltén. We will drive for one and a half hours along zigzagging mountain roads and alongside the Río de las Vueltas river until we reach Lago del Desierto (Desert Lake).

Once there, we will board the boat for around 30 minutes. As we drift, we will admire the Huemul and Crestón glaciers. We will then visit the Vespignani Glacier, where you will have free time to appreciate the panorama of the ice tongues and see the north face of Mount Fitz Roy.

After exploring the glacier, we will stop for a rest and enjoy hot tea with cookies. We will then sail across Lago del Desierto and return to El Chaltén, concluding our adventure 9 hours after starting.

Half-day trip

For those with less time, a half-day tour is available but with a shortened itinerary and less free time at the Vespignani Glacier.

Times and Collection

When booking, you can choose to be picked up at your hotel in El Chaltén or go directly to the Punta Sur dock of Lago del Desierto. Pickup times vary depending on your tour choice.

Half-day excursion with pickup: Pickup at 11:00 am at Avenida San Martín, 55 (El Chaltén, Santa Cruz, Argentina).Full-day tour with pickup: Pickup at your hotel between 7:30 and 8:00 am.

If you opt for the excursion without pickup, be at Punta Sur dock at 9:45 am for the full-day excursion and at 12:45 pm for the half-day excursion.
