Named after King George III of Britain George town is the oldest city of Malaysia. The lay out and architecture maintain the original design and style; colonial buildings lining narrow lanes are characteristic of the centre of Georgetown. Visit the Burmese and Thai Temples to see the beautiful Golden Reclining Buddha statue.
Next visit at the State Museum, will help to understand the local cultures of various races and the early history of Penang. Drive by Fort Canning where the old structure and cannons are still intact. Pass by the clock tower and proceed to the waterfront and take a walk down the Clan Jetty on the wooden platform where houses are built on stilts and a view of Penang Bridge can be enjoyed.
