Uncover the rich history of the Maltese capital with a free tour of La Valletta! Discover iconic sites like St. George's Plaza.
Description
We will meet at the Malta Parliament building to begin our free tour of Valletta. The tour will take us through the historic downtown streets, leading to significant stops in this city known as an "open-air museum."
We will identify how the Knights of the Order of St. John arrived in Valletta, stopping at the Auberge de Castille and d'Italie. These 16th-century buildings showcase Malta's past.
As we pass through the Victory Kitchen and Merchant Street, we will learn about local gastronomy and the commercial history of the city, along with information about films shot on this street.
The tour includes visits to the Church of Santiago and St. John's Co-Cathedral, both built by the Knights. We will conclude with insights on the city's hidden gems and the best local sweets.
After approximately 2 hours, we will conclude our free tour of Valletta.
