Join us on this Christmas tour of Ljubljana to discover the traditions of the Slovenian capital during the holiday season.
Tour Details
At the appointed time, we'll meet at 21 Ciril-Metodov trg to start our Christmas tour of Ljubljana. The tour begins with a visit to Prešeren Square, dedicated to France Prešeren, Slovenia's greatest romantic poet. Visitors will observe Art Nouveau façades and the Franciscan Church of the Annunciation.
Next, we will walk to Congress Square, notable for its mix of medieval and modern architecture, especially picturesque with Christmas lights. The tour then continues along the banks of the Ljubljanica River, where we will discuss Slovenian Christmas traditions, including the tradition of children receiving presents three times in December.
Finally, we will explore the old town and visit the Christmas market. The tour concludes with a tasting of local treats such as roasted almonds, salted chocolate, Christmas honey, mulled wine, mulled gin, and šmorn, a typical dessert.
After 1.5 hours of sightseeing, we will return to Prešeren Square to conclude the tour.
