Visiting Covadonga Lakes, the Sanctuary and Cangas de Onís with us will be the best way to understand the denomination "Natural Paradise" of Asturias. While you share this unforgettable experience you will save money and you will avoid running out of access space. At 8:00 we will leave our meeting point in Oviedo to head to Gijón and pick up the rest of the group, so if you are from Gijón or you are staying in Gijón book our excursion to the Lakes of Covadonga from Gijón.

We will take advantage of the early morning to get to the Lakes as soon as possible, without a doubt the best time to enjoy nature in all its splendor. We will go up to the Entrelagos viewpoint to enjoy an unbeatable panoramic view of Lakes Ercina and Enol. Our guide will explain the park, its mountains and its curiosities. The spectacular views of the park will leave you with an indelible memory forever.

Our next stop will be the Basilica of Covadonga, built between 1877 and 1901, it is neo-Romanesque in style. Here we will explain the origin of Don Pelayo and the beginning of the Reconquest, a story that every Asturian presumes and where the famous expression "Asturias is Spain and the rest is conquered land" comes from.

At our stop at the sanctuary we have time to see the cave of the Virgin of Covadonga, where the tomb of King Pelayo and the Santina are located. The Virgin, famous for being merciful, is made of polychrome wood, with sweet features, holding the child and a golden rose. She disappeared during the civil war, but was found in 1939 in the Spanish embassy in France.

Our stop for lunch will be in Cangas de Onís, a city full of typical Asturian food establishments where you can taste the famous cider. With the comfort of not worrying about driving, you will have the freedom to enjoy the Asturian drink without worry. You will have two hours of free time to eat at your leisure, we will recommend the most interesting places such as the Roman bridge, which dates from the High Middle Ages and is one of the most representative images of the autonomous community.

The return will be the perfect time to rest after a long day and we will be back in Oviedo around 7:30pm.
