This excursion to Kamakura invites you to uncover the city's rich historical significance as the center of governance during medieval Japan. Prepare for an enriching experience filled with visits to temples, a delightful rickshaw ride, and the opportunity to don a kimono!

Details of the Excursion

At the designated time, we will gather at Suica Penguin Square before boarding a train bound for Kamakura. Anticipate the discovery of the unique charms this city offers!

Our journey will commence at the Hase-Dera Buddhist temple. Here, we’ll pause to appreciate the shrine's exterior, renowned for housing over 50,000 small sculptures. Experience a serene atmosphere as you wander through its caves and Buddhist halls, and ascend to the scenic terrace that grants stunning views of the bay.

Next, we will proceed to see the Great Buddha of Kamakura, the second-largest Buddha statue in Japan, standing taller than 42 ft (13 meters) and weighing an impressive 93 tons!

Following this, our visit will take us to the Tsurugaoka Hachiman temple-g?, the preeminent Shinto shrine in Kamakura. You will have 40 minutes to explore the surroundings of this 11th-century sanctuary and enjoy its beautiful gardens adorned with cherry trees.

After a 5-hour excursion, we will reconvene at the meeting point, where you can choose to return to Tokyo using your complimentary train ticket or continue to explore Kamakura at your leisure.
