Oviedo Cathedral is the core of the city's historic centre and the start of all its paths. Inside, we will take a look back over eight centuries of Asturian history. Relics from the Holy Land are kept here, as well as the Victoria Cross, with which Don Pelayo led his troops to victory in the Battle of Covadonga. You will see the Holy Shroud, the Cross of the Angels and the Box of Agates.

The monument is also the origin of the Primitive Way since the time of Alfonso II the Chaste, which is why Oviedo Cathedral came to be considered the starting point for many pilgrims.

As we leave the inside of the building, our next stop will be the portico. This is directly related to the towers that had been planned, of which only one ended up seeing the light of day. We will discover its secrets and curiosities, as well as the way in which it resisted fires, looting and the Spanish Civil War. Find out all about it on this interesting visit!

We will meet at the door of the temple to enter the Central Nave, whose stained glass windows had to be restored on several occasions. Today, its north rose window is still preserved. The rest tell many of the legends of the Asturian Kingdom and give a very peculiar colour to the interior. They also lead us to the High Altarpiece.

You will pass through the beautiful and peaceful Cloister before heading to the Pilgrims' Cemetery. It is located in a small garden in the crypt of Santa Leocadia.

You will also visit the Chapter House, which was the seat of the former General Assembly of the Principality and from the Pilgrims' Cemetery you will reach the Holy Chamber, a World Heritage Site.
