Cetinje is a small city museum with beautiful monuments, promenades and nature, situated under the huge mountain Lovćen. Cetinje is the former capital of Montenegro. It was founded in the 15th century and became the center of Montenegrin life and its culture. This small city, enriched with the greenery and architecture of the 18th and 19th centuries will surely draw your attention at first glance, through a rare combination of nature and culture, museums, art faculties, parks, promenades.
Lovćen is the symbol of Montenegro and its freedom. The mountain is located at 1749 m above sea level, and in 1952, it was declared a national park. On one of the peaks of Lovćen, Jezerski vrh – 1675 m above sea level, there is a Mausoleum, dedicated to Petar II Petrović Njegoš bishop, ruler, thinker and poet, one of the most important figures of Montenegrin history. Lovćen is special in many ways. It is rightly said that Lovćen is a natural treasure of Montenegro.
Itinerary:
• Departure by appointment. Driving towards Cetinje (duration 1 to 3 hours depending on the place – the city of departure).
• Arrival at Cetinje – sightseeing of the city. You will be able to see the Cetinje Monastery, the Ćipur church, the former Njegoš’s residence – billiards, King Nikola’s Museum, the Presidential Palace (duration approx. 1h).
• Driving towards National Park Lovćen – approx. 45 min.
• Visit Njegoš’s mausoleum (461 steps to the top). Stairs to Njegoš’s mausoleum lead through the tunnel pierced through the mountain, and after a few minutes of walking, you arrive at the “sky under the clouds”, to the Jezerski vrh, from where all around you is provided as in the palm – approx. 1 hour.
