History of Wine in the Canary Islands
The Canary Islands welcomed European vines in the 14th century, establishing winemaking as a key industry by the mid-16th century. The Islands maintained their wine trade for 300 years, even after facing challenges such as wars and volcanic disruptions. Notably, the region remained unaffected by the phylloxera vine aphid in the 1860s, preserving ancient grapevine varieties. Today, Tenerife is acclaimed for exceptional wines, enriched by volcanic soil and diverse microclimates.
Hotel Pickup
This activity includes pickup between 7:55 am and 8:40 am in southern Tenerife locations: Los Cristianos, Costa Adeje, Costa del Silencio, and Ten Bel. Participants will indicate their desired pickup location during booking.
Harvest Season
The harvest season in the Canary Islands lasts from July to November. During these months, the winery stop will switch to a visit to an aloe vera and fruit farm.
