The palm beach of Preveli, known as Lake of Preveli, is located about 35km south of Rethymno city and has been a protected Natura area since 2000. This amazing beach is located at the exit of Mega River, which carries the waters of the imposing Kourtaliotiko gorge.

Before you visit the beach, you will make a short photo stop at the magnificent springs, unique nature that is definitely worthwhile to see! The combination of the huge vertical cliffs of the gorge, the river with its green water and the unique palm tree forest creates a magical atmosphere and makes Preveli Beach one of the most romantic beaches of Crete!

An almost 25 minutes walk brings you there and will give you the unforgettable opportunity to swim in the crystal clear waters of the Libyan Sea. Enjoy the sun next to the tropical river and stroll through the exotic palm tree forest.

The last stop, before taking the way back, will be a visit to the old traditional and picturesque town of Rethymno for a walk or coffee break.
