Take a typical recipe back home with you from your trip to the Canary Islands. Learn to make the traditional Canarian mojo sauce with this workshop in Monje Winery, and visit the bodega's barrel cellar while tasting some wines.
Culinary Workshop and Wine Tasting
Your experience begins at Bodegas Monje in the north of Tenerife, where a chef will lead this culinary workshop. The session lasts an hour and a half, focusing on the secret to the traditional spicy mojo sauce (mojo picón) alongside recipes for mojos based on cilantro, parsley, and pumpkin. Notes are encouraged for recreating these dishes at home.
At the conclusion of the workshop, participants will taste their creations with papas arrugadas (wrinkled potatoes) and three types of wine, accompanied by toasted bread and local spreads such as mantequilla de berros (watercress butter), almogrote (cheese, garlic and tomato spread), and chorizo palmero (Canarian chorizo).
This is followed by a 45-minute guided tour of the bodegas, where participants will learn about the history of the Monje family, explore extensive vineyards, and visit the old barrel cellar from 1956. The full experience spans at least two and a half hours.
