Rethymno & Arkadi Monastery Day Trip

On this day trip to Rethymno from Heraklion, we'll discover the medieval past of one of the most beautiful towns of Crete and visit the historical Arkadi Monastery.

Tour Details

We will meet at the Heraklion Archaeological Museum at the indicated time to begin the day trip to Rethymno and the Arkadi Monastery. Our first stop will be Margarites, a village known for its pottery tradition, where we'll take a short walk through its scenic alleys to appreciate its architecture.

Next, we'll visit the Arkadi Monastery, a historic site in Romanesque and Baroque style that symbolizes freedom for Cretans due to its role during the Ottoman period. We will provide insights into this period of history.

Continuing to Rethymno, we will explore the old town and walk to the Fortress on Paleokastro hill, offering panoramic views of the city.

After this exploration, we will return along the northern coast via the Cretan Sea, passing through the coastal villages of Bali, Fodele, and Agia Pelagia.

We will conclude the trip approximately 9.5 hours after starting.
