Private Tour of Ispica
We'll meet in front of the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore in Ispica at the designated time to begin our exploration of this historic town in Ragusa. Our tour starts with a visit to the Basilica, an 18th-century masterpiece showcasing Baroque and Rococo styles, featuring exquisite statues, stucco work, and 26 frescoes by painter Sozzi.
Inside the Basilica, we will see the statue of the Most Holy Christ Flagellated at the Column, a symbol used during Holy Thursday processions on Easter. This historic church was declared a National Monument in 1908 and features a loggia by architect Sinatra, inspired by St. Peter's Basilica in Rome.
As we walk through the narrow streets of the historic center, rebuilt after the 1693 earthquake, we'll admire the Palazzo Bruno di Belmonte, now the town hall.
After a two-hour guided tour, we'll conclude in front of the Basilica of the Santissima Annunziata, noted for its stunning Baroque features.
