It was built mostly in the 14th century by a fraternity called the Guild of Our Lord Jesus and the Blessed Virgin Mary. Have a look at the JORVIK Viking Centre, built in the late 70’s and early 80’s after excavations having discovered well-preserved remains of timber buildings and other artifacts of the Viking era.
