Bern Day Trip

On this day trip to Bern, we'll visit the historic city centre and a typical dairy farm where Emmental cheese is made.

Description

We will meet at Frankenstrasse 2 - 4 and drive south towards Switzerland's scenic areas.

Our first destination is Entlebuch, a declared biosphere reserve. After exploring this region, we will stop in Trubschachen for a tour of the Kambly biscuit factory, where we'll see product-making processes and enjoy a tasting.

Next, we will proceed to the capital of Switzerland for a walking tour of Bern's historic centre. During the tour, we will view the exterior of landmarks such as the Bern Minster Cathedral and the Zytglogge clock tower. We will also stop at the Bundeshaus and the Federal Palace of Switzerland, situated by the river Aare.

After the guided tour, you'll have an hour of free time for refreshments, strolling, and shopping. We will regroup and head to the outskirts to visit the Emmentaler cheese factory, where we will learn about cheese production and have a tasting opportunity.

Following the Emmental cheese tasting, we will visit a local dairy farm for photo opportunities with Swiss cows. If conditions permit, alpine peaks including Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau may be visible.

We'll conclude the trip with a goodie bag with traditional Swiss food before returning to the meeting point in Lucerne, totaling 8 hours and 45 minutes.
