On this private tour through Melfi, Venosa, and Lagopesole, we will explore significant archaeological sites in Basilicata and the Vulture region.

Melfi, Venosa y Lagopesole Private Tour

At the scheduled time, we will meet at the Castle of Melfi and then proceed to visit key locations in the Mount Vulture area, starting in Venosa with its archaeological museum, home to remains from the Roman colony of Venusia, founded in 291 B.C. We will traverse the streets of this historical site, viewing the baths and a domus with mosaics.

During our visit, we will also see the abbey of the Holy Trinity and learn about its historical significance. Next, we will head to Melfi to explore its heritage, including the Santa Maria Assunta Cathedral and the castle of Frederick II, which houses the National Archaeological Museum of Melfese, showcasing finds from the Archaic, Classical, and Roman periods.

Midway through the tour, there will be a break for refreshments. The final stop will be in Lagopesole, associated with Frederick II and his son Manfredi, where we will learn about important historical events and visit the local castle.

The private tour will conclude upon returning to the starting point in Melfi, approximately eight to nine hours after the tour begins.
