On this high-mountain bus tour through the Andes from Mendoza, you'll experience the stunning scenery and the peaks of Aconcagua, the tallest mountain in the Americas, while reaching the Argentine-Chilean border.
Andes High Mountain Tour
The tour begins with hotel pickup between 7 and 7:30 am, heading west towards the Andes over a 120-kilometer (75-mile) journey lasting around 3 hours, passing the Mendoza River and the Potrerillos Dam. The first stop is at Uspallata, a village over 2000 meters (6,500 feet), where you'll explore its pre-Colombian and colonial history. Proceeding to Punta de Vacas, you may view the Tupungato Volcano, then travel to the Los Penitentes ski station.
Next, visit the Puente del Inca for views of Aconcagua. From November to April, optional hikes to the Laguna de los Horcones (not included) are available. In Las Cuevas, ascend to the Christ the Redeemer of the Andes (accessible January to March) and enjoy one hour for lunch here.
After lunch, return to Mendoza with a stop in Uspallata for rest before the final drive back to your hotel, estimated between 7 and 8 pm.
Itinerary Changes
The itinerary may vary seasonally. In summer, you may visit Christ the Redeemer before lunch, and from November to April, you can opt for a 30-minute hike to the Laguna de los Horcones. In winter, expect more free time at Puente del Inca. The order of the visits may also change.
